OFood Calories is a free iPhone app: photograph your meal, confirm what it is, set the portion, and the calories land in your diary. Recognition runs entirely on your device.
Email info@ofood.org — we read everything. Include your app version (Settings screen) when reporting a problem.
They are estimates. The app recognizes the dish, then uses standard per-100 g nutrition data and the portion size you set with the slider. Portion size dominates the result, so adjusting the slider matters more than anything else. Foods without detailed data yet are labeled as estimates.
By design. A check runs on your device before anything else; if a person is detected, the photo is not analyzed, not stored, and not uploaded. Retake the photo showing just the food.
Calories in drinks aren't visible to a camera (a black coffee and a cola look alike). Log drinks manually through search instead.
Confirmed meal photos are contributed to improve recognition for everyone — that is what keeps the app free, and it's part of the Terms. Photos are checked for people on-device first, and uploads carry no EXIF/GPS metadata. In regions where consent is required (for example the EU), the app asks explicitly and works on-device-only if you decline.
Settings → delete uploads. Not-yet-accepted uploads from your device are purged. You can also email us for a deletion request.
On your device only. We have no accounts and cannot see your diary or calorie history. Deleting the app deletes the diary.
Optional. When enabled, logging a meal writes dietary energy to Health, and deleting the diary entry removes it from Health too. The app never reads your other Health data and never uploads any of it.
English, Arabic, German, Spanish, French, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Turkish, and Simplified Chinese — including localized food names.
