OFood Calories is a free app that estimates the food in your photos and their calories on your device. There are no accounts, no subscriptions, and no paywalls.
The service improves through the photos it analyzes. By using the camera or photo features, you agree that the analyzed food photo — together with the food name you confirm, the portion size where you provide it, and related technical capture data from your camera and device sensors — is transmitted to our servers and may be used to improve the service, including training recognition and portion-estimation models. This is a condition of the free service.
What is NOT transmitted: - Photos with people in them are never analyzed and never leave your phone. The app checks for faces on-device first; if one is found, nothing is processed or uploaded, and you are asked to retake the photo. - Your diary (what you log, portions, calories) stays on your device. - Location data: the app does not request location, and uploaded photos are re-encoded without embedded metadata (no GPS, no original EXIF). - Apple Health data is written locally with your permission and never uploaded.
Uploaded photos are held in a review queue. Items that pass review are incorporated into our datasets. Once incorporated, a contribution becomes a permanent part of the dataset and cannot be recalled. Until then, you can delete your pending uploads at any time from the app's settings (Settings → Delete my uploads).
If you use the app in a region where the law requires explicit consent, the app asks for your consent before any photo is transmitted. You may decline or withdraw consent in Settings; recognition then continues to work entirely on-device and nothing is uploaded.
The app uses a random device identifier for rate limiting, abuse prevention, and deletion requests. It is not linked to your name, email, or other identity. Deleting the app discards it.
Calorie and nutrition figures are estimates for general information only and are not medical, dietary, or health advice. Consult a professional for health decisions.
Do not upload unlawful content, attempt to disrupt the service, or use automated means to access it. We may block devices that abuse the service.
We may update these terms; material changes are shown in the app. We may discontinue the service at any time. Sections 2–3 survive for contributions already made.
The service is provided "as is" without warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by law, OFOOD LLC's liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service (zero).
